With Valentine's Day apporoaching, we were feeling the love this week in Preschool.... children talked about the special people in thier lives and who they love. We also talked a lot about emotions and feelings.
Staff explained that sometimes when two people love each they, they get married and the children loved sharing stories of weddings they have been to, including their own parents. The children loved all the dress-up and themed activites throughout the week and in preparation for a ceremony on Friday afternoon, they made button holes and corsages, and an amazing cake. 'The Wedding' was a fantastic finale to the week. After the ceremony and exchanging of rings, the happy couple cut the cake and had a first dance, which everybody joined in with. We had a group snack that afternoon, with special biscuits, and the groom even gave a speech.
It really was wonderful to see the children so immersed in the theme throughout the week, and lovely to hear them talking about their own feelings and experiences.
